The San Diego Chargers' run of AFC West titles ended at four last season as the Kansas City Chiefs went from worst to first. Something that will not be repeated this year.
While the Chargers have some issues they need to resolve in order to recapture division supremacy, those pale in comparison to the problems the Chiefs are facing. I mean, let's face it, there is no side of the ball where they are performing.
San Diego split its two games against Kansas City in 2010. This season I expect us to win both and we will be starting on our turf. (BTW, if you are looking for an impartial preview, it's not here!)
Philip Rivers, who has thrown for 713 yards and four touchdowns, knows what it means to get off to a great start in the division, and he is excited to get to it this week. FF Note: Make sure to start all Chargers this week, esp. Rivers!
The Chargers have a great chance Sunday considering they've not only outscored Kansas City 74-14 in winning the last two meetings at Qualcomm Stadium, but the Chiefs (0-2) also appear to be in a state of disarray. Ok, let's not sugar coat it, the Chiefs are falling apart. Kansas City has been outscored by 79 points (worst differential through two games in franchise history) and has had to put three of its top players on injured reserve with torn ACLs. The only thing that could possible cause a loss is bad coaching (Turkey Neck) and special teams. I am still not sold on the new coach. I am seeing the same lack of discipline as before.
Although things are looking bleak for the Chiefs, coach Todd Haley said he is not ready to give up.
"The season will not be canceled as far as I know," he said. (ha ha, it will feel like it on Sunday!)
Matt Cassel, who has not thrown for more than 133 yards total and owns a 50.4 quarterback rating (how is he still their starter? Even Ryan Leaf had a better rating!) is responsible for five turnovers -- including four interceptions. Cassel has also struggled in his last three games against the Chargers, averaging 114.3 yards with three touchdowns and four picks.
Rivers has averaged 295.2 yards and posted a 108.0 passer rating in six games versus Kansas City since 2008 -- five victories... Sunday will make it six.

Week Two - Injury Report - all WR's.
I'm actually a little shocked that the San Diego Chargers injury report only holds three names this week.
Malcolm Floyd is the biggest impact with a groin strain and is questionable for week three. Personally, I say let him sit. We are playing KC after all. Everyone should get a turn getting a TD, so Floyd can rest his junk.
Vincent Brown still has a quad injury, and Crayton is still babying his ankle.
By week four I expect these boys to quit being whiners, get a shot, rub some dirt on it and get out there and make catches.
Other teams in the league are on their third string QB (Denver), losing expensive rookies left and right and even the Colts are getting Peyton a neck transplant.
Chargers are healthy going into week three. Should be a pretty massacre.

Week Two.. Exciting and yet oh so dissapointing.
Wow, what a week two, there were so many close games that my nails are chomped down to the quick. That said, The Chargers managed to lose a not-so-close game to the Patriots (chomp chomp).
There were not a lot of highlights, but some of the lows included, Rivers throwing for 29 completions, I guess it's 31 if you count the two interceptions (one to a lineman!). Tolbert fumbled on a drive into the red zone. Oh, and -2 yards for kickoff returns. Actually, if you analyze the numbers, it should have been a much closer game. Passes, total yards and even penalties were almost the same. It was those damn turn overs that cost them the game. That, and the fact that three out of four times we run up the fucking middle! Where EVERY single defensive player just happens to be. It seems so obvious to me to run to the left or right - not backwards then fumble (yeah, you Tolbert). Left or right. I will say I was really impressed (again) with VJ, he is officially back on the boat. Keep bringing it!
Chargers loss brings them to 1-1, which is second place. Maybe next week we could have more TD's than TO's. Hmmmm? (Thank goodness it's against KC)
Aside from the Chargers losing, here is some other league tid bits.
Michael Vick - He got his bell rang and still wanted to play. I'm not saying I'm joining his fan club, but I'm gonna admit he is a tough dude. I'm spitting out blood, you can pretty much guarantee I'm done.
Chiefs - Wow, they are seriously bad. I don't even think there is a word to describe how bad. Awful and terrible just are not good enough.
Raiders - Way to blow the lead and lose.... excellent. I actually turned to the Saints game because I was getting pissed. From now on I will not watch and they will lose.
On to a home game and a win. Prediction Chargers 50 - Chiefs 0

Tedy Bruschi upset at Ocho... really?
New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco drew more attention for a tweet about Monday's game than for what he did on the field against the Dolphins. Which was one catch for 14 yards.
Reacting to quarterback Tom Brady throwing for 517 yards and four touchdowns in a 38-24 win over Miami, Ochocinco tweeted: "Just waking up after a late arrival, I've never seen a machine operate like that n person, to see video game numbers put up n person was WOW."
Five New England receivers had more yards and three of the five had touchdown receptions.
ESPN analyst Tedy Bruschi, appearing on sports radio WEEI, said Ochocinco better "drop the awe factor" and "stop tweeting and get in your playbook."
I like Tedy, really I do, but he needs to realize two things. 1. This is a whole new ballgame. Guys tweet about everything they do on and off the field. Chad is a habitual tweeter who will even tweet what he is having for breakfast. 2. He was saying something nice about his team. Who is not in awe of how badly Miami stunk it up in order for Brady to have a 500+ yard game?
I am not sure why Tedy does not like Ochocinco, but he needs to get over it. Unlike me, he is a paid analyst who needs to pretend to be unbiased. He is also no longer a Patriot and can't get his feelings hurt because he wasn't there when they were breaking records.

Injury report holds blessing in disguise.
Keading has been a super choker in every playoff game he has played in, this was the missing piece of our road to the Super Bowl puzzle. Enjoy your time off dude!
The Bolts entered the season with six defensive linemen on the 53-man roster, all of whom were active Sunday against Minnesota. Expect third-year defensive end

Patriots, Chargers and Bat Busters.
September 11, 2001. A day that is a reminder of what it means to be an American and the importance of family. Today, 10 years later, the anniversary of this day is filled with things that make me proud to be an American, Chargers fan and a mom.
Here is how we do Patriot Day.
First - Add a second flag pole to the house, we cannot possibly choose between the Chargers flag and the American flag on September 11th. Both must be represented.
Second - Get up at o'dark hundred to prepare for a softball double header. 4S Bat Busters took on Poway for 5 hours and 2 very exciting softball games. Each won a game.
Third - Watch the Chargers take on the Vikings and win. We rushed home from softball to make snacks and watch football with family and friends. It was loud, filling and fun.
Highlights from the game ~ Tolbert scores three touchdowns! Has that ever happened? Rivers threw for over 300 yards, but was intercepted twice. I am afraid to look, but I am sure this affected my FF rating. Sigh. Matthews looked great. I am starting to like this kid. Of note, our skiddish kicker was carted off the field after the first kick was returned for a touchdown. I'm not sure if he just got his feelings hurt or if it was a real injury. Either way, we didn't need him. Scifres did a fine job.
