Chargers Release Binn, and some unknowns.

Such a shame to see David Binn go.  He was the longest-tenured player in Chargers history, playing 268 games for San Diego, including a streak of 179 in a row.  I do not remember him ever pissing me off or making an off field spectacle of himself.    No reason was given except they needed to get down to 80 players before Thursday.. sigh.

The Chargers also waived cornerback Stephen Harrison, wide receivers Vidal Hazelton, Cameron Kenney and Travon Patterson, guard Michael Huey, linebacker Jeremy Leman, tackle Ryan Otterson and running backs Shawnbrey McNeal and Brandon Sullivan. Otterson reached an injury settlement with San Diego.

Of the 10 players released, only Binn has played a regular-season game for the Chargers.

2011 Preseason ~ Chargers vs. Cardinals

Watching the first quarter was painful. The Cards dominated both sides of the ball and Matthews fumbled and got hurt.

Second quarter showed glimmers of hope in the passing game, run still sucked and the defense started to wake up. I am so happy I have Rivers and Jackson on my fantasy league team. They have a great connection and I can't wait for regular season, but I digress.

By the third quarter I realize that it's not that we are phoning it in, Arizona is actually a team to beat. Fitzgerald is crazy good. My friend loves to make predictions about the Chargers upcoming record. Well Matt, this prediction is for you. This game was a preview of the Super Bowl, and the outcome will be the same.

Fourth quarter, well it's preseason and I don't want to get attached to the kids who will be gone in a few weeks, so it's time to make dinner. After all, this is on DVR and I'm already thinking about Thursday.

What preseason means to me... and the Chargers.

As a football fan there are superstitions, rituals and beliefs that everyone has.  One of mine goes along with preseason football.  As you may or may or may not remember, the year we went to the Super Bowl was the year we went 0-4 in preseason.   So, the worse we do in preseason, the farther we go in regular season and the playoffs.  So, stink up the preseason and lets go to the SuperBowl!  I have been holding on to this particular superstition for over 20 years, it's going to happen again, right? 

GO BOLTS!  Stink it up in the preseason!
